Robert Schaus sculpts wood -essentially out of plywood surface- by flame and then explores the different layers with a chainsaw to obtain amazing reliefs which remind an uncontrolled, untamed and wild writing. He uses forms such as circles, squares and triangles, but also drafts of human bodies or mere mysterious traces. Schaus searches, discovers, exposes different wood layers stacked with their colour variations and according to the glue he used.
